Silver Medal Classes

Silver Pitching

 Session #1 (4 wks): Mondays & Thursdays, Dec.5th – 29th, 6:00 - 7:30pm
Session #1 (8 wks): Mondays only, Jan 9th – Feb.27th, 6:00 - 7:30pm
The Silver Medal Pitching Clinic is an intermediate pitching class focused on the fundamental mechanics associated with pitching.  From gripping the baseball through the delivery or wind-up, all the way up to the release point and follow through; this 8 week class attempts to cover all the physical aspects incorporated in the pitching motion, specifically the preparation of the body and arm for the upcoming season.  As the class approaches the final weeks, the focus begins to shift from the physical to the mental aspects of the position, providing an introduction to “effective velocity” and the art of analyzing hitters in order to “set them up” for a less than desirable appearance at the plate.
In depth arm care routines are implemented throughout the course, helping each pitcher to understand the importance of proper mechanics and practice procedures in order to maximize potential. Specific functional strength exercises are incorporated into every session in order to develop postural efficiency; the key to recruiting the most energy a pitchers body (not just his arm) is capable of.  Postural efficiency correlates directly to higher velocity and better control, deception and movement of off speed pitches.
Throughout the class pitchers are closely monitored by our professional staff of instructors through the use of high speed video analysis.  This helps to expose mechanical “inefficiencies” in the delivery that otherwise may not have been noticed by the naked eye.
Session #1: Mon. & Thur.: 6:00 – 7:30pm, Dec. 5th – 29th, 2011
Session #2 Mondays Only: 6:00 – 7:30pm, Jan. 9th – Feb. 27th, 2012

Silver Hitting

Session #1 (4 wks): Mondays & Thursdays, Dec.5th – 29th, 7:30 - 9:00pm
Session #1 (8 wks): Mondays only, Jan 9th – Feb.27th, 7:30 - 9:00pm

The Silver Medal Hitting Clinic is as intermediate level hitting class aimed at improving on all aspects of the swing – both physical and mental, through establishing an effective approach at the plate.  Emphasis is placed on the physical mechanics of the swing during the first 3 to 4 weeks of the class, with a goal of eliminating any “mechanical inefficiencies” in order to create a more compact, powerful and repeatable swing.  Emphasis for the second half of the 8-week session will shift from a physical standpoint to a mental point of view as the “timing” element of the swing becomes the focal point.  The significance of a solid mental approach at the plate becomes very evident during this second half of the class as specific attention is placed on pitch recognition and pitch selection; all important factors that directly impact the timing of the swing.
Over the 8 weeks, players will progress through several types of hitting drills and exercises including tee work, soft toss/front toss, and live pitching during each session. Strength, balance and agility training is also incorporated to increase overall athleticism and produce “baseball specific” muscle memory, helping to escalate performance on the field. Progress is monitored and reviewed every other session (at minimum) through the use of high speed motion analysis video equipment.  This is an essential tool for providing hitters with immediate feedback regarding their swing; allowing them to make very minimal or extremely drastic adjustments to their swing on the spot, accelerating the learning process significantly.
